Estonian Music Week has been working on something new for 2019:
the EMW Culture Club!
ABOUT EMW CULTURE CLUB
Your membership to the EMWCC is a unique opportunity to become a promoter and ambassador of Estonian culture. You will help provide a small series of concerts in Ontario and Quebec for serious Estonian and non-Estonian music lovers in Canada; showcase the best Estonian contemporary musical culture, in a very wide array of genres more broadly and often in North America; guarantee a fair honorarium for the artists; provide professional marketing and promotion for artists to build exposure in North America; create space for new artistic collaborations between Estonian and Canadian artists and composers.
At our events there will be opportunities to mingle and enjoy good food and drinks and we hope to partner with and support local caterers breweries and wineries.
The purchase of a membership saves you money vs. buying single tickets to each concert.
Tickets to 4 different concerts/cultural events (from a choice of 6 in 2019) promoted by the EMWCC in any city where there is a performance held. Initial participating cities will be Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa and Montreal, with others to be considered depending on demand (e.g. New York).
Artist meet and greet and Q&A
Additional members only perks to be announced by checking our website regularly.
KRISTJAN RANDALU W/ SPECIAL GUESTS
Kristjan Randalu is one of the most compelling pianists of his generation, sought after as soloist, collaborator and composer, his music described by Jazz Times as an "unnameable exotic land".
Born in Estonia in 1978, Randalu moved with his family to Germany as a child where the piano became increasingly important to him. His teachers there included John Taylor in Cologne, followed by a time at the Royal Academy of Music in London (with Django Bates), and a scholarship to the Manhattan School of Music in New York.
His musical partners have included Dave Liebman, Ari Hoenig, Nguyên Lê, Ben Monder, Nils Petter Molvaer, Dhafer Youssef, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Barbican Hall, the Berlin Konzerthaus, at festivals in London, Paris, Madrid and Istanbul, and toured in the United States and Canada, across Europe and in Turkey, Korea, Australia and Israel.
His awards include a Grammy nomination and Jazz Album of the Year at the Estonian Music Awards. In 2014, Randalu received the annual music award of the Cultural Endowment of Estonia.
