A short note from the Embassy: “Culture— and especially music — has always been an important part of Estonia–Canada relations. We are delighted that the program of the Estonian Parliament’s Estonia–Canada Friendship Group’s visit includes Havryil Sydoryk’s (UA/EE) piano concert that not only celebrates our shared cultural ties but also highlights our united support for Ukraine.”

Havryil Sydoryk is a 17-year-old pianist and composer of Ukrainian origin. In addition to the piano, he also plays the violin and is actively involved in early music. He plays the harpsichord with various baroque ensembles and is interested in baroque instruments.

Havryil started playing the piano at the age of 6 and showed clear musical abilities. Therefore, piano lessons became regular for him from the age of 7. Havryil started writing music at the age of 8, mainly for piano, but now chamber ensembles and larger ensembles were also added, he writes mainly chamber sonatas and large-scale forms with a chamber orchestra.

Unfortunately, after the start of the full-scale war, Havryil and his mother were forced to leave Ukraine for Paris, where he studied for a year and a half. Later, Havryil moved to Estonia, where he entered the Music and Ballet School, where he studies piano under the guidance of his teacher Age Juurikas.

Havryil Sydoryk has participated in the Estonian television show and young performers' competition "Classical Stars 2025," where he won first place.

"Classical Stars" has given impetus to several well-known Estonian musicians and is an important platform for bringing classical music to a wider audience.
