EMW Team Member Profile: Tom Koger
How long have you volunteered for EMW?
Worked with Tom Treumuth on the project for the last six months.
What is your “day job”?
I am a CPA CA with my own practice. As well operate Koger Valuations Inc. as a Chartered Business Valuator as well as other companies.
What is your background?
In addition to my regular business I have worked with business partners doing various promotions in the music industry. A very long time ago as a teenager I promoted concerts while attending my local high school in Hamilton. I came to attend University of Toronto 44 years ago and never left Toronto.
What are you doing for EMW?
Working with Tom Treumuth to identify concert opportunities to match Estonian and Canadian music acts and to hopefully create a cultural exchange of music between the two countries. My wish is to develop a much higher profile for Estonian musicians coming to Canada.
What excites you about your work?
I have interests in several Estonian companies and enjoy positioning them for future success. As such I am also looking forward to helping organize and attend the Tech Conference taking place in November. Many of my business associates will be coming to Toronto to present and attend and I am looking forward to hosting them.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love music and sports. As such I attend concerts over 100 times a year. Since 1980 I have had season tickets to the Toronto Maple Leafs. I have a substantial background in coaching and managing sports teams. I have coached Canadian and World Champion lacrosse teams and previously owned and operated the Toronto Beaches Jr A lacrosse team. Still playing hockey despite a diminishing skill level!
